Statement of Significance

The comer shop on the comer of Webster and Edward Streets has aesthetic, historic. social. representative and mrity cultural heritage significance. The shop is a fine example of simple Federation commercial architectural design. Tt has many architectural features still appreciated by tne general community today. It represents a class of places from a period of time before cars and collective shopping centres when people used their local shop as it was within casy walking distance. Though not unique. the operation of a corner shop in a residential area is rare as so many have been forced out of business by larger. more central shopping precincts

Physical Description

This brick and iron deli has a corner entry with a projecting fascia over the pavement, There is an arch with two pilaster columns on either side on the parapet above the cantilevered verandah. This motif is repealed further along the building over the wide roller door (the roller door added at a later date). There is a window on either side of the entry door and another small entry door next to the roller door. The building is rendered and painted.
