The Travellers Rest was a hostelry at Tenterden built cl865. It was run successfully by Lomas Toovey for some years until it was taken over by his son-in-law. John Gillam. Gillam was responsible for gaining a license and renaming it the Travellers Rest Inn. It was a popular stopping place for those travelling on the Albany-Perth Road. At the Inn they could get food, accommodation and liquor. The Inn was also used for social gatherings within the community, even for church services. Many interesting stories accompany the history of the Travellers Rest Inn which was delicensed in 1926, Today it is part of Yenmor Farm which is the home of Em and Bill Toovey. The farm was named after their Romney Sheep Stud - Yenmor is Romney spelt backwards.
The Travellers Rest was a simple building constructed of roughly hewn stone around 1865. The roof is low pitched, and is presently made of corrugated iron. A verandah, under a broken backed roof, supported by solid timber posts, is built across part of one side of the building. Other buildings and extensions have been added over time.
