The place has associations with the provision of infant health services in Lake Grace, and makes a contribution to the townscape.
Small timber framed structure clad with asbestos sheets. It has a tiled gable roof, and stands alongside a single garage which is of similar proportion and appearance to this building. A flat roof verandah has been added to the front to the Infant Health Centre.
Improvements were always being sought for general health, although Mrs P Critchley lobbied and negotiated with the progress asssociation and the Infant Health Department tc get an Infant Health Sister visiting Lake Grace on a regular basis. The Shire built a residence and surgery for the Doctor in 1958. On 6 July 1962, an Infant Health Committee was formed and Sister Harper from Wagin visited fortnightly. When the new supper room was put on the hall in 1971, it also included a clinic room. The surgery is now the free standing Infant Health building facing Mc Mahon Street.
