The site has associations with education and early settlers in the area and is marked with a plaque in recognition.
Timber framed and clad with an iron roof and a brick chimney. A plaque commemorates the site.
The Stratham School opened in 1895 under the direction of Mr Ross and Miss Mary Kane. In 1898, Mr Jerry Murnane was the teacher, and he was at the school until it closed in 1906. The school quarters were moved to Stirling for Mr Murnane. He was later the Secretary for the Capel Roads Board. In Stratham, Anglican (Church of England) and Wesleyan services were held at Stratham School which remained empty until 1920. After the first Stratham School was closed in 1906, and Stirling School opened, there was no school in the Stratham area. After a deputation to the Education Department headed by Mr V. G. Roberts, the Stratham School was re-opened in 1920. It continued to be the venue of services, weddings and christenings until the All Souls Church was built near by in 1931. It was located on the east boundary of Mr V. G. Roberts 'Rosemore' property on the Boyanup West Rd. During the 1920s the school was moved to higher ground on land donated by V. G. Roberts. In 1937 the children from Elgin were transferred by Mr F.W. Vickery's bus run which also picked up the Stirling area children. An extra classroom was added after being relocated from a south west group settlement.
