The site and hall are significant as the social centre of Muchea since 1922, and has many associations with generations of Muchea people.
Original hall timber framed and weatherboard (40 ft x 22 ft) Existing hall; steel framed and brick clad structure with a corrugated iron roof,
At a public meeting held in the school shed on 16 July 1921, it was decided to build a hall in Muchea. The Progress Association requested assistance from the Gingin Road Board, and fundraising began. Many events were held and items donated for auction and raffles. Locals cut wood (on Midland Railway land) and sold it to the Railways, and cut blackboys. Tenders were called, and a loan raised, with local trustees; Mr Fewster, Byfield, Kendall, Steer, Peters and Van Ooran. The original Muchea Public Hall was opened on 18 November 1922, by Colonel Denton MLA DSO. A sports day was held to celebrate the event, with a dance in the evening. The hall became the social and community venue of the district. The last wedding reception was celebrated in 1958, for Marion Ovens and Trevor Martin. On 11 November 1961, a busy bee of Muchea locals began to build the second hall with materials donated, or monies donated to buy necessary items and pay the wages of the bricklayer and carpenter, and with Road Board assistance. The chairs were bought from the Midland Theatre. A bore was sunk in 1970. On 26 May 1979, four conifer trees at the entrance were planted by former local residents.
