Statement of Significance

This site has archaeological significance for the early settlement of Maylands and the broader Perth Region. It is significant for its association with the Hardey family, who were very influential to the development of the Maylands Peninsula.

Physical Description

The site has been cleared of buildings and now only exotic plantings and fruit trees are evidence of the place that once stood there.

History

A historic site with archaeological evidence of very early settlement. Part of the historical gardens and well are the remaining evidence of early settlement by John Wall Hardey and Marmaduke Hutton. An archaeological study has been commissioned by the City to further investigate this and other colonial sites along the Bayswater / Maylands foreshore.
