The places were built between 1953 and 1965 and have social significance for representing the development of residential apartments in Perth in the period immediately following World War II. Together they have aesthetic significance and contribute to the streetscape. (No. 118 has been converted into a motel.)
A precinct of residential flats. Three storey brick buildings with tiled roofs.
From the 1930s in East Perth and Perth, development pressure was seen along the river when a trend towards inner-city flat development gained momentum. By the 1950s, southern and East Perth continued as a desirable and popular place for high-density, inner-city residences. The Langley Park flats, built along Terrace Road to cater to young office workers, are a prime example of the post-war investment in flat construction that occurred after the lifting of wartime housing controls. There was a total of 21 blocks of flats in Goderich, Forrest and Hill Streets, Burt Way and Terrace Road by the early to mid-fifties. The Metropolitan Water Supply Survey plan dated 1954 shows that the flats at Nos. 114 and 126 were constructed by then, and in between them was vacant land. Aerial photos show that by 1965 the flats at Nos. 118, 120, 122 and 124 had also been built.
