This site has historic heritage value. It represents the difficulties of living in an inhospitable and isolated area.
About 200 metres from the road is an old government well. This is one of a series built in a dry land to provide a travellers rest point for miners and stock drivers. The well is covered with timber and iron and is locatcd at the base of a small tree in spinifex country. There is a handwritten sign, 'Hale's Grave Well' next to the well. About 100 metres from the well on the old telegraph line is the grave of a man called Hale. Hale died in 1910 and was buried near the well site. The well has since been given his name. The grave, situated about 100m from the well, is marked by a cairn of stones which once had a steel cross which has since disappeared.
