The shop with attached residence has some social significance for its role in communications in the district for many years. The place has considerable aesthetic appeal which is enhanced by the use of impressed concrete blocks to the residence, shop, garden wall and garage, creating a unity of style and material. Further the place has high streetscape value given its prominent location on the main street of the town and its frontage to the footpath.
Prominently situated on the main street of Perenjori this shop with attached residence is of concrete block construction. The blocks feature an impressed design and are painted white. The building has a gambrel corrugated iron roof with a gable roof to the shop which fronts directly onto the footpath. A separate verandah roof supported on metal poles covers the footpath directly in front of the shop. Over the verandah roof, the gable end is of fibrous cement construction with simple vertically placed bargeboards. The shop front features timber framed casement wndows and a single entry door. Immediately to the north of the shop the verandah of the residence has been enclosed with fibrous cement sheeting and a large aluminium framed window. The same concrete blocks have been used to construct the garage to the rear and the low wall which consists of evenly spaced piers with rendered pyramid shaped capping. A small extension to the south facade houses the post office boxes which are sheltered by the roof overhang. There is a corbelled brick chimney to the residence.
Also referred to as the Post Office, this building currently operates as "Country Class Beauty Salon". According to Enid Cannon in "Golden Opportunities", the building was constructed as a residence but was altered to contain an office in the front room. This was to allow for a continuous 24 hour phone service which was operated by Tony Farrell. When Tony retired the Perenjori Post Office was taken over by Mr and Mrs Austin Roach, (p. 101)
