Statement of Significance

The building has importance as a surviving example of Victorian Terrace housing, rehabilitated as terrace houses. The terrace provides both a visual step at the end of Bay View Terrace as well as a block to what would otherwise be a splendid vie of the river.

Physical Description

A terrace of 5 houses, 2 storied to Victoria Avenue and 2 storied to the south, on high ground overlooking the river. Constructed in limestone with tiles roofs. The terrace, formerly ‘Bayview Mansions’ (and guest house) and originally ‘Matheson’s Terrace’ was constructed in c.1897. The building is now undergoing rehabilitation as 5 terrace houses.
