Statement of Significance

Typical example of station homestead constructed during the 1950s. The gardens are of particular significance.

Physical Description

Mount House Station Homestead was constructed in 1951 of concrete blocks with a corrugated iron roof. The foundation stone was laid by Rita Blythe. The homestead is attractive and designed to suit the Kimberley climate with a central breezeway, high ceilings with natural ventilation and wide verandahs. The gardens are of particular interest for their attractive layout and for the shade house.
