Statement of Significance

The building is a fine example of ecclesiastical architecture and makes a substantial contribution to the district's stock of buildings. Its design is unusual for churches of this period and reflects an important part of the district's heritage.

Physical Description

Located about 200m north of the Quindanning Bridge on the east side of the Marradong Road. Surrounding the small enclosure is cleared farmland. A parapet square tower joins the rear of the building which, has a gable roof with a gable side porch.,

History

Quindanning was one of the centres ministered to by the Brotherhood of Saint Boniface stationed in Williams from 1911 to 1929, so it seemed logical to honour their work by naming this church after their patron when it was consecrated in 1956. Boniface was born in Devonshire in A.D. 680, ordained a priest, and became a missionary to Germany, where he was martyred in A.D. 754. More is known of his work than any other missionary of his time because many of this writings have survived. He was a man who possibly had a deeper influence on the history of Europe than any Englishman who had ever lived, and is the Patron Saint of Germany, and the Cathedral Church in Bunbury. (1)
