The Yanchep Golf Clubhouse is of some historic significance for its associations with use by the RAAF during WWII. The place also has social significance for members of the Yanchep Golf Club and some aesthetic significance as a modest building in the picturesque setting adjacent to Yanchep golf course.
The Yanchep Golf Clubhouse is located within Yanchep National Park and situated north of the settlement near the first golf tee. The clubhouse is a single storey timber framed rectangular building clad with flat sheet asbestos to the top section and metal sheet cladding below. The gabled roof is clad with corrugated asbestos and there is a skillion verandah roof supported by round metal columns. 'Yanchep Golf Club established 1965' appears above the verandah on the west side. There is a lean to on the south side with a cgi skillion roof and recent brick paving to the rear and east side of the building. The building is set among established trees and shrubs and there is a Tree Memorial to life member F*AE D Gibbs 1967-1997 on the north side of the building. In 2005 a roof is under construction over the paved area at the rear of the clubhouse.
The name Yanchep is of Aboriginal origin, and is derived from 'yanget', a native flax or bullrush. Surveyor R. Quin first recorded the name for Lake Yanchep in September 1866. The Yanchep Golf Clubhouse was one of the buildings used by the RAAF during World War II. The Superintendent of Yanchep National Park, W. Burnett, donated the building for use by the golf club. Members of the club relocated the building to its current location. Local Cray fisherman Hob Hoy founded the Yanchep Golf Club in 1965.
