26814 Yarloop Heritage Area
The site has value for its association with the provision of government services to the community within Yarloop and the surrounding districts.
The current structures are not relevant to the former use.
This site was the location of the former police station and police horse yard. Together with the post office and the hotel opposite the railway station this location was the central business district of the town of Yarloop. Yarloop Station opened in March 1901 and officers from the station policed Harvey as well as Yarloop. It was noted in the local press in 1910 that the 'Yarloop Police Station is recognised as one of the principal police stations outside of Perth'. It is likely that the station was constructed in the early 20th century to provide for the growing community. The place survived the January 2016 Yarloop/Harvey/Waroona Fire.
