The Kojonup Cemetery has historic and social significance as the first cemetery established in town and which has been continuously used. It is the final resting place of local people from Aboriginal community, British settlers, migrants, workers etc. many of whom contributed to the Kojonup area.
A traditional open landscaped cemetery with an avenues of mature trees, burial sites marked with headstones and an ashes wall.
The cemetery is divided into 3 sections. The oldest is the Roman Catholic section consecrated in 1863 by Bishop Griver, then the Church of England section was consecrated in 1874 by Bishop Hale. The oldest graves are in the RCC section, having been moved from the original cemetery on Pensioner Guard William Noonan’s land. The third section is non-denominational.
