Statement of Significance

The place is significant for its associations with the Scott family, as one of the two original Scott homesteads.

Physical Description

Clay brick dwelling built from pit on site.

History

Conflicting information regarding whether Robert Scott took up the land or purchased the property from Henry Thompson. Scott was a constable in Bunbury when he married Jane (nee Roberts), daughter of W. J. Roberts. Scott had recently taken over Eelup (Bunbury) from his aging parents, and had plans for his own farm Roselands. Robert Scott's son Henry William, married Matilda, the daughter of William Jenkin Roberts of Rosemore. R Scott kept hunting dogs which killed kangaroos to supply meat for his family and his brother John Scott's family. In 1969, David Cox bought the vacant property.
