The place is of aesthetic significance as an example of a commercial building constructed during the inter war period. The place is of aesthetic significance because it contributes to the visual quality of its locations. The place is of historic significance because it reflects the period of affluence and optimism following the end of World War 1. The place is a representative example of a commercial building constructed in Perth during the period following the end of World War 1.
Two storey commercial building. Facade intact at first floor level with parapet concealing the roof, decorative cornice pilasters and string coursing. Awning not original. Considerable alterations to the building at ground level. Facade left after approval for demolition on 25-5-2000.
The 1920's in Perth was characterised by economic prosperity and expansion. There was considerable migration from Britain and Europe encouraged by government sponsored settlement schemes leading to a period of consolidation in the city with the continued commercial development including the construction of arcades, hotels and commercial buildings. The depression of the early 1930's still saw commercial activity including the construction of cinemas.
Low integrity. Low level of authenticity as only facade remains and loss of original detail at ground floor level.
