The site and place represent the cultural development of Miling. It represents a sense of place for generations of Miling people. It is integral within the steretscape and townscape character of Miling.

Physical Description

Red face brick construction. The main hall has a gable roof. The front entry is cement rendered with a parapet facade protruding from the main building. An addititon on the north side as brick construction with a corrugated fibro cement roof in a low pitch gable.

History

The original Miling Hall was opened on 28th September 1929, the centenary year of the state of western Australia. Members of the local community subscribed 50 pounds each and carted materials to the site. In 1934, school was conducted in the hall for a time before the school building was relocated from the reserve. The hall was the centre of Miling social and community functions, with many patriotic events during the war years. After the war, by 1949, there was agitation for a new hall. Church services took place until the churches were built in 1954 and 1960. In the year that the Catholic Church was built, a new brick hall was constructed on this site replacing the former weatherboard hall. The Miling Hall opened on 1st April 1955.
