· The place has historical significance due to its association with the Coolgardie gold rush in the 1890s and the development of the subsequent gold mining industry.
· The place is one of the few remaining original hotels in Coolgardie.
· The place is one of the few remaining substantial structures that contributes to the Bayley Street streetscape.
· The place played an important role in providing entertainment to the early goldfields community.
The place is a brick, two storey, timber framed building founded on limestone blocks. It has 350mm thick external brick walls to the ground floor and 250mm thick external bricks to the first floor. The internal walls are single leaf brick and timber framed partition walls. The roof is pitched timber (Oregon) and is clad in corrugated iron sheeting. There is evidence that a verandah was once attached to the front of the building.
Cremorne House was constructed during the 1890s goldrush as a theatre and hotel complex of some renown. The theatre closed down as the population of Coolgardie declined following the discovery of gold in Kalgoorlie, and the hotel closed shortly afterwards. The theatre burnt down after its closure.
