The place represents a range of occupations in the town of Kulin, and associated ways of life.
The original structure is a square building built of brick with a corrugated iron hipped roof with no eaves overhang. Fibro clad extensions have been added to the rear of the place, and a suspended canopy has replaced the verandah across the front. A straight fascia board is in place across the front of the roof. The shop front is glass each side of a central door. Condition: good Authenticity: medium degree Integrity: redeemable
Francis ran a store before Charlie Mann took it over. Between 1926 and 1929, W Watson ran a store before Norm Watson ran a machinery dealership which Ken Francis took over. Watson then established a house and shop (now Foodland) in High St Kulin, in 1929. The machinery dealership continued until the late 1950's when it became a hairdresser shop.
