Statement of Significance

The site was a watering place for shepherds from 1870 to 1910. In this period most of the land was held under leasehold. During the 1890's, prospectors camped there on their way to Rothsay and the north eastern goldfields. Following the settlement of the district, the well provided household water. The area was the site of the Pintharauka Sports and Cricket Ground. The soak and well are of historic and social significance.
