26090 Holland/Forrest Street Heritage Area
92 Holland Street is a single storey timber framed and iron house set above the level of the street. Walls are timber framed and clad with weatherboards. The Zincalume hipped roof has two small gable ends. The roof extends over the verandah and is supported by timber chamfered posts and has timber criss-cross balustrading. The entrance is via central steps and the timber framed door is flanked by timber framed windows with small sashes. There is a painted brick retaining wall and timber pickets above to the front boundary.
Twelve houses Holland Street (Nos. 90-112) were all built by 1902. Numbers were allocated in 1905. The house was originally number 163, and became number 92 when the whole street was renumbered in 1937. Charles V Hodges was the main occupant of No. 92 in 1905. A long-term resident was Mrs Sarah Bond (1910-c1919) and later, William Christensen from 1937 until at least 1949 (when post office directory records cease). The 1914 Sewerage Plan (No 2118) shows a simple square house with a roof in two portions and a full-length front verandah. Aerial photos show that the lot was subdivided c1999 and another house built at the rear.
