• The place has historic value as a group of timber workers cottages in their original location. • The place has aesthetic value as a group of timber cottages of uniform age and construction within a bushland setting.
Holiday village comprising a range of timber framed cottages with weatherboard and fibre cement sheet cladding. Roofs are a mixture of gables and hips all clad in corrugated metal. Timber stumped footings. Timber and metal framed openings, all with a verandah. Situated in a wooded landscape with a gravel road running through the site.
The Myalup Pines cottages were built to house forestry workers who were engaged in works in the area from the 1930s. The actual date of construction of the timber cottages has not been determined. During the years in which the whole site was used by forestry workers it consisted of seven cottages allocated to married couples, 2 single men's quarters, an office, workshop and gantry for the storage of vehicles. The site was operated by the Department of Conservation and its preceding bodies until the 1990s. Since that time the cottages have been used for holiday accommodation. The cottages are similar to many other timber cottages of the period that were largely built to a standard design produced by the Forestry Department or the Department of Public Works.
