Jack Williams was the first settler in the Nunijup area. He was nicknamed 'Nunijup Jack'. Mystery surrounds his previous life and how he arrived in the area. One source describes him as a sandalwood carter and ex-convict, while another says he may have jumped a whaling ship in search for a better life on land.
Jack Williams (alias John W Andrews) was buried in the garden about 30 metres in front of the Nunijup Homestead in 1882. Refer to Place No 16 for the location where he died.
