Statement of Significance

The associations with the pioneers and early settlers of the district and every one who has lived in the district are represented in these places. The townscape and streetscape value of the places is of considerable significance in representing Corrigin.

Physical Description

The precinct encompasses a substantial body of buildings dating back to the early days of the establishment of Corrigin Town. The buildings in the main street, Campbell Street, form a continuum at one storey height which provides a harmony and rhythm in the streetscape. This is continued south into and along Walton Street. On the north corner of Walton Street, the two storey hotel dominates, signalling the main street entry from the railway station precinct. The buildings in Goyder Street; the Town Hall and Roads Board building together create a separate civic entity.

History

The buildings range from the earliest days of the Corrigin Town and represent an evolution of the town.
