Statement of Significance

Henry Kleeman installed the old engines to service the town with power. He had foresight in the development of the town and consequently worked long hours to give the much needed service. The engines in the powerhouse provided homes and businesses with power for lighting, heating and refrigeration.

Physical Description

The building was used for storing the old engines which supplied DC power to Cranbrook from 1937 - 1963. The mesh vents at the end of the building were sheets of mesh sold by the army suppliers. The sheets had been used for stamping toe plates for army boots, and were then sold.
