• The site of the former railway station is associated with the development of WA in the late 19th century as a result of the gold discoveries leading to population growth and the suburban expansion. • The site of the former railway station has historic and social value to the Koongamia community who recall the presence of the station and the service it provided until 1954.
There is no evidence of the former railway station remaining at this site. Some interpretive elements have been installed at the site.
Koongamia Railway Station was located on the First Route of the Eastern Railway and operated between 11 July 1960 and 2 January 1966. The stations opening coincided with the development of the new suburb, Koongamia by the State Housing Commission. As well as Koongamia, the station serviced passengers from Greenmount and Boya. The alignment of the former railway line is now the site of a Heritage Walking Trail.
