Statement of Significance

The building is significant on the following grounds: 1. Major building, erected 1904, by a major builder JH Brown. 2. Building erected for prominent early settler, William Cornwall. 3. In early days was the most significant building east of the railway on the east-west main road (then Egerton Street). 4. Base of Imperial and Railway Football Clubs. 5. Run for many years by local identities, Les and Olga Fenn. 6. Major social venue, especially in Wintercourt. 7. Scene of major local occasions.
