26090 Holland/Forrest Street Heritage Area
House, 122 Holland Street is a single storey timber and iron house constructed as a simple variation of the Victorian Georgian style of Architecture. The walls are painted timber weatherboard. The gable roof is corrugated iron clad. The front verandah is under a separate corrugated iron roof. The verandah is supported by timber posts with decorative timber brackets and timber balustrade. The symmetrical front façade has a central entry door and timber double hung windows symmetrically placed either side of the door. The place has a painted timber picket front boundary fence and gate.
The house on Lot 1463 at 122 Holland Street was built in the rate period 1903/04 by the government and occupied by Alexander Marr. From 1909 to 1919 the house was owned/occupied by George Hayward. In 1920 ownership changed to George Henry White who was still living in the house up to at least 1949 (when post office directory records cease). Numbers were allocated in 1905. The house was originally number 199, and became number 122 when the whole street was renumbered in 1937. The 1911 sewerage map (No. 2133) shows a weatherboard house with no front verandah and central steps. Aerial photos show that between 1985 and 1995 the house was reroofed, the lot subdivided and another house built at the rear.
Condition assessed as good (assessed from streetscape survey only).
