The place is an example of a stone residence that has been altered but still represents the expansion of Fremantle in the gold boom period of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. The place makes a major contribution to the heritage character of the Monument Hill locality.
Single storey stone with brick quoining to corners and window and door openings of the house with a Colorbond hipped roof and two storey additions at the rear.
The cottage was erected in 1891. It was owned and occupied by John Frank, a mason, until 1906/07.
