One of the areas of public open space developed as part of the original subdivision of Hilton Park in the 1950s. Hilton Park was developed as a garden suburb, with the requirement that 40% of the land be set aside as public open space.
Moorni Boorn Park is part of the Hilton Central Area Precinct. A grassed and treed park area with children’s play equipment.
Moorni Boorn Park (previously known as Black Stump Park) was established when the Hilton Park estate was subdivided in the late 1940s/early 1950s by the State Housing Commission. Hilton Park was planned on garden suburb principles articulated through the Garden Suburb planning movement, which had originated in England at the end of the nineteenth century. Garden suburb principles required that the design of housing estates be laid out with careful consideration given to the proportion of residential, commercial, recreational and public amenity space. Since September 1993 this park along with Fred Wright Homes has been granted to the City of Fremantle for the purpose of "Aged Persons Accommodation" (refer Certificate of title Vol 1957 Folio 32 Lot 3086). Moorni Boorn Park is included in the precinct listing for Hilton Central Area Precinct. See that entry for more detailed information on the development of Hilton.
