STATEMENT OF SIGNIFICANCE Glasson Park George Street is an informal family park. The place has historic and aesthetic value with its contribution to the local community’s sense of place. The place has some heritage value for its intrinsic aesthetic value as a small green area in an otherwise urban setting. Physical Description

Glasson Park is a small park with lawns, mature trees, half basketball court and children’s play equipment. The park is located on the corner of George Street and Glyde Street. Adjacent the park is the East Fremantle Kindergarten.

History

Plympton is a cohesive precinct where most of the places were constructed in the late nineteenth century and the first quarter of the twentieth century. It is comprised primarily of homes for workers and their families with a high concentration of small lots with timber, brick and stone cottages. Glasson Park is named after Councillor Herbert Arundel Glasson. The establishment of the park was the outcome of community efforts to create recreation space in the town centre.
