The place has aesthetic value for its contribution to the Yarloop heritage area. The place has historic value for its association with the first hotel in the town.
This building is the remaining residential portion of the former Palace Hotel. The hotel was built in the 1890s to serve the growing Yarloop townsite. In 1900, the licensee was Mary Stone however by 1901 the licensee of the newly renovated hotel had been transferred to George West. The Palace Hotel, or Crystal Palace Hotel, had no competition until the construction of the Yarloop Hotel in 1907 across the railway line in Station Street. Managers of the Hotel included, A. R. Lichberg, H. McNeill and Patrick Ryan. It is not known how long the premises were operating. This place survived the January 2016 Yarloop/Harvey/Waroona Fire.
