Statement of Significance

The mine had the first Reward Claim in the area in 1898. Found by Jim Dunn, horses pulled ore up from a vertical shaft and quartz made digging very difficult. From 1903-1920 produced 5,836.21 ounces of fine gold and from 1936-1938 178.95 ounces. The mine also produced copper. The Jim Dunn's Wonder Mine was found difficult to work with its masses of white quartz but at the 80ft level the reef was 5ft wide and 60 tons of this ore yielded 12 DWT of gold per ton.

Physical Description

The only remains arc a broken headfranic. hole in the ground and remains of other old mines are very close by, eg. Sunrise.
