The place demonstrates associations with the development of Kondinin, and the provision of services.
A Rock wall was constructed in the excavated dam and a concrete tank constructed.
In the earliest days of exploration of the region, Roe camped at Yeerakine Rock. Michael Brown, the "Father of Narrogin", and pastoralist of the Jitarning area, held a pastoral lease over the rock. It was common for pastoralists to determine their holdings with reference to water supplies. Arnold William and Ronald Sloan worked for Michael Brown. AW was a sleeper cutter and sandalwood cutter. In 1921, Sloan share-farmed "Pyramid" with Brown, and settled on that property. The Yeerakine Rock dam was built in 1926 to provide a permanent water supply for the developing town of Kondinin. A pump-house at the top of the rock pumped the water from the dam into a tank from where it was gravity fed into the reticulation system in Kondinin town, and north and west as far as Gordon's farm.
