The warders’ quarters were constructed before the prison was completed because of the difficulty of finding accommodation for warders and their families in Fremantle. This particular block was the last to be built (1858) and each house was initially planned to house two families. They were repaired while under prison control and were acquired by Homeswest in 1991.
