26090 Holland/Forrest Street Heritage Area
House 123 Holland Street is a single storey timber and iron house constructed as a simple variation of the Federation Bungalow style of Architecture. The walls are painted timber weatherboard. The roof is hipped and gabled and is corrugated iron clad. The front verandah is under a gable roof. The verandah gable is supported by twin timber posts with a timber weatherboard balustrade. The verandah gable is half-timber battened with painted timber shingles. The other gable is painted roughcast render with a centrally placed timber ventilator. The front façade has timber casement windows with a timber framed corrugated iron clad awning over. The place has a painted timber picket front boundary fence and gate.
The house on Lot 1715, 123 Holland Street first appears in the rate books for 1935/36. Charles Oscar Berglund was the owner/occupier. Berglund was still living in the house until at least 1949 (when post office directory records cease). The house was originally number 194, and became number 123 when the whole street was renumbered in 1937. Aerial photos show that between 1995 and 1999 the lot was subdivided and another house built at the rear.
