This place contains a limestone feature. Limestone walls were built around properties in Fremantle to prevent sand drift in response to an early building regulation dating from the 1830s. The use of limestone is part of the Fremantle landscape and gives the City coherence and character. It is not known how old this particular wall is. This place was identified in the "Heritage Report on 19th century limestone walls and steps in Fremantle" prepared by Silvana Grassadonia, for the City of Fremantle, 1986.
Originally named Gallipoli Street, then Hewitt Street (1909/10), then Frederick Street, in 1951/52 the street was renamed Daly Street in honour of City of Fremantle councillor, Bartholomew T Daly, who served from 1909 to 1912, 1913 to 1922 and from 1924 to 1929. Sub Lots 55 and 58 of Town Lot 75 (later 14 Daly Street) remained undeveloped land until c. 1960, when a house was built for owners Cecil and Juanita Carpenter. The Carpenters retained ownership until the mid-1970s, and since that time, the property has had a number of owners. This place contains a limestone feature.
