House & Stables, 87 Hope Street, demolished c1981, is significant as a site because of its associations with the development of the horse racing industry in the area.
DEMOLISHED
The original stables were built about 1949/50. In 1951/52 they were recorded as number 87. The 1956 to 1960 records note a residence and stables. In 1981 the stables were de-licensed. Association over the years with J.J. Starkie, J.A. Holmes, H.E. Denic, R.E. Miller, and Phil Coulson a leading trainer of trotters.
