Municipal Inventory | Adopted | 10 Jul 1996 | Some Significance |
Representative of the commercial development of Midland in the late 20th century.
The site was previously an open reserve. It was often the venue for visiting circuses and for sporting activities. It was the home venue of Midland's lacrosse team.
Upon the Midland Railway Company being bough under the control of the State Government in 1964, the private company's workshops and shunting yards in the heart of Midland became redundant and were demolished. Part of the Midland Railway Company's former reserve was redeveloped for a large shopping centre named 'Centrepoint'. This shopping centre was part of a wider commercial expansion in Midland during the 1970s.
