The significance of Bluey's house lies in its direct relationship to her standing in the community. Bluey lived much of her life on her own. She worked as a nurse at the hospital and was a much respected resident in the community. Her name was firmly established when she left the buildings to the Historical Society to open as a museum or to be used to assist in raising monies to open a museum. Architecturally, the building style of the main house is interesting, in that many features such as the louvres and shutters are of a architectural style earlier than the 1950s when the house was built. The buildings blend in well with the older buildings which comprise the Port historic precinct.
The two buildings are located on the eastern side of O'Donnel Street. The main house was turned into two flats by sealing some of the internal doors and by adding internal walls. The general fabric of the external features of the building remain original. Wooden louvres are a feature of the main building. The flat was originally used as a shop, with a fuel pump at the front providing fuel to residents of the port. The building is only approximately 6.59 metres in area and is constructed out of fibro and tin. It is leased out as a flat.
Integrity: Intact with some alterations in 1970s
