Historic - Nigalup school was possibly the earliest of our bush schools. Nigulup looked like becoming a townsite around the turn of the century. A townsite survey was carried out. this area was covered by the Nigalup News published in the Great Southern Herald, they fielded a cricket team and other sports and meetings were hekd in the area. Social - used as a meeting place for the surrounding landowners.
As early as I897 the settlers at Nigalup agitated for a school, this came about in 1905 when the school was opened on 17th July. The school only operated until 31st April. 1907when it closed due to insufficient numbers. A plaque has been erected to mark the site.
