History

When Richard and Mary Coxon wrote to the Lands Department in early 1913, saying they had come from Victoria with a large family (three sons and three daughters) but could not obtain suitable land, they were directed to Badgerin, which was described as "soon to be served by a railway". They took up the land, Location 140, that is known still as the old school block. Mary Coxon, a well educated woman re-opened the Badgerin School in her home, in June, 1913. Later a school was built on Location 1512 but the school closed in 1916 when Mrs. Coxon resigned after the death of her son.
