Statement of Significance

The church is historically important for its age. (few if any Port Hedland buildings have survived for over 60 years) and as an example of the simple buildings which was all that Port Hedland pioneers could afford. The church is significant for its scarcity value being one of very few surviving buildings that are over sixty years old in Port Hedland. Its simple construction is indicative of the simple way of life that was experienced by pioneer settlers in Port Hedland.

Physical Description

TImber framed and clad externally & CGI roof. The church is a simple timber building with a corrugated iron roof. It replaced an earlier church destroyed by fire in 1917, the first service being held in it in April 1918. The interior is pleasant but recent airconditioning and an unsympatheitc new wooden pergola obtrude on the exterior.
