The place is significant as it is a burial site - one of a number of lonely graves in the Shire.
The exact site is not know. Spencer Patterson, the owner of Manna Flats (& Whatanine) became ill with pneumonia and was hospitalised in Perth in the 1960's. A working bee putting in his crop demolished remnants of the site, not realising its significance. It is believed to be south of Whatanine Soak (1/2 km) on sandy soil, probably between the dam and the gully which is now replanted with trees.
The land around Whatanine Soak had been taken up by Henry and Mary Jane (nee Blackmore) Bradbury. They raised a family of 11 children in their house built of upright sheoak slabs pugged with mud. This house was'burned to the ground and Lizzie (a daughter) and her child perished in the fire.
