The built-up railway foundations present in limited locations along the length.
c1872 a 3ft 6 inch gauge wooden-railed tramway was constructed to convey timber from Jarrahdale to the 80 metre long, deep-sea jetty at Rockingham. However the tramline could not support the first locomotive ‘The Governor Weld’. In 1878, iron rails arrived via the Rockingham jetty and conversion of the wooden rail to iron continued until 1892-95. With the completion of the Perth-Bunbury railway and improved shipping facilities in Fremantle and Bunbury, the port of Rockingham was phased out as the major port from 1903. Jarrahdale timber for the export market was shipped using the Perth - Bunbury line.
