Statement of Significance

Aesthetically significant as an example of Fremantle’s vernacular architecture. Typical single storey cottage dating from the first decades of the twentieth century. Historically significant as a representation of working people’s living conditions in the Fremantle area.

Physical Description

Single storey rendered and zincalume hipped roof house. There are two rendered chimneys and the dropped verandah is supported by chamfered timber posts.The following places form a significant group and contribute to the streetscape of Fifth Street; 2, 10, 14 & 16.

History

A cottage is recorded in the rate book records for Lot 11 CSL 62 in 1918/19. (Fremantle Rate Book records).
