Linden is significant as an example of a homestead and farm continuously occupied from the 1880s to the present. The property represents the process of building new homesteads on the same property over the period of its history. Although the 1880s building no longer exists, the 1909/1915 homestead is typical of the period and contains considerable original fabric and interesting building details especially the pressed metal wall and ceiling linings. The irrigation system is also significant.
The property is named after the Linden Mine near Menzies, Broken Hill, NSW. The original house was constructed of jarrah slabs. This building no longer exists however the slabs form part of the floor of the existing shearing shed. The existing house was constructed in 1909 of local bricks made on the property. The house was extended in 1915 in weatherboard and iron with elaborate pressed metal wall and ceiling linings. The house remains substantially as originally constructed and is occupied. The property also contains a number of outbuildings and an irrigation system on Nannup Brook which was designed by the original owner Robert Lindsay and which is still in use.
The property is named after the Linden Mine near Menzies.
