This bushland has aesthetic and scientific heritage significance. Urban bushland is identified as land within or adjoining urban areas which contains remnant native vegetation or which shares the structure and includes plant species found in the natural bushland. Urban bushland is considered valuable for a number of reasons: • It is home to many species of flora and fauna. • Bushland plants are a genetic storehouse, ensuring the continuity of species. • Urban bushland is a key recreation amenity. • Bushland provides important visual relief from built up areas and is a link with the original landscape. • Bushland can be used for research and fieldwork by students of all levels. • This area of remnant bush provides the students at Denmark Primary School with the opportunity to enjoy the beauty of local plants, birds and microfauna, at the same time learning about them. This is the only piece of natural bush that has not been cleared within the CBD from the original settlement.
In this stand of bushland can be found redgum (marri), casuarina and understorey plants.
