The building is a good representative example of 1900's development of Toodyay. The place has historic value for its association with the Leeder family who were prominent in the development of Toodyay. The place has aesthetic value for its contribution to the town of Toodyay's streetscape.
A red brick and iron cottage with hipped, gabled and vented gabled roof system. There is a cross wing with projecting half timbered gable, iron canopy over the window. Verandah to front and side with bullnose verandah canopy. Timber sash windows set within rounded arches. Red brick chimneys.
David Leeder (1871-1924) built this residence c.1905 following his marriage to Patience May Kingston. David Leeder was the son of William George Leeder who was the first Mayor of Toodyay and a substantial property owner in the district. This house has been owned and lived in by the descendants of David Lionel Leeder since its construction.
